Artifical Neural Networks for classsification of sediments by using Electric Resistivity Technique.

Collection of samples of seafloor/river floor sediment and their characterizations are tedious and time consuming tasks even for a small areas. Presently used two technologies are under development are based on acoustic and electrical. This system uses electric resistivity of sediments for classification. The sediments can be classified based on their electrical resistivity into different categories such as clay, basalt, limestone. The input to the system is electric resistivity of different sediments and artificial neural network is used to classify them in different classes. This system uses physical properties for classification this makes algorithm easier to learn and reduces processing time.
