Summer Intern
Genesis Labs
Part TimeMay-2011 To Jun-20111 month
Responsibilities
• Project on production and purification of Fructooligosaccharides • Inoculation of fungal strains in broth and then in fermentation medium • Downstream processing for purification of Fructooligosaccharides • Purification by filtration and charcoal treatment
o Explore the effect of zeolite framework type, along with the acid strength on reactions of 1-pentene in the liquid phase using commercially available zeolites (MFI, MOR, FAU, BEA* and FER) o Ferrierite (FER) showed highest selectivity toward dimerization, with minimal bimolecular cracking activity and high decene yield o Analysis of the kinetics of the reaction to deduce the trends observed for each set of reaction o Analysis of oligomerization products by Gas Chromatography
