About

I have been pursuing my Master's in Clinical Microbiology(MD) since June 2011 in Maulana Azad Medical College,New Delhi, where we are actively involved in routine and emergency microbiological diagnostic and research activity, as well as hospital Infection Control activities. I have submitted my MD thesis dissertation on Clinico-microbiological study of Cryptococcosis in medical wards.

Responsibilities
  • I have been actively involved in sample collection of routine(sputum) and invasive samples(FNA and biopsy from lymph nodes, LP for CSF, pleural, pericardial, asctic fluid tap, gastric lavage etc.),sample processing(including concentration techniques),routine microscopy for Ziehl-Neelsen staining, in-house preparation of Lowenstein-Jensen medium, reading and interpretation of cultures, setting up and performing routine biochemical tests for identification of MTB complex, performing cultures and antimicrobial susceptibility with the conventional radiometric BACTEC 460TB system(recently discontinued),BACT/Alert 3D system. I have been trained to successfully perform basic serologic assays like rapid immuno-chromatographic assays, slide and card agglutination tests,ELISA and its modifications, Widal, VDRL,RPR,CSF antigen detection assays, filter paper based assays for sero surveillance etc, moleculer assays including DNA / RNA extraction, standardization of PCR,RT-PCR and real time PCR Taqman assays and automated bacterial ID/AST systems like VITEK 2 Compact.

  • Presented scientific papers in 23rd European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ECCMD-2013) held in Berlin,Germany.
    Abstract Papers published in CMI (Clinical Microbiology and Infections).
    Participated and presented scientific posters in MICROCON(Nov 2012),the annual congress of Indian Association of Medical Microbiologists(IAMM).
    Participated and presented scientific posters in NEUROPATH(Feb 2013),held in G.B.Pant Hospital.
