I am Veerender Kambam and I did my Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture from UAS, Dharwad and Master’s Degree in Agriculture with specialization in Biotechnology from TNAU, Coimbatore.
I am interested in research and development in Agriculture, especially on-farm experiments as it gives more practical knowledge and exchange of field experience with the farmer.

Studies on the genetic diversity of Sulphur oxidizing bacteria from different ecosystems

Sulphur is now considered as the fourth major plant nutrient after N, P and K, especially in agricultural crop production. Sulphur is the key element for higher pulse production and plays an important role in the formation of proteins, vitamins and enzymes. Different enzymes of bacteria are involved in oxidizing of different compounds of Sulphur and are grouped under different enzyme family. Use of Sulphur oxidizers enhances the rate of natural oxidation of S and speeds up the production of sulphates, and makes them available to plants at their critical stages, consequently resulting in an increased plant yield. Within this project my findings are: 44 isolates were isolated from different ecosystems and were screened based on their biochemical studies, Characterized isolates based on their Microbial, Biochemical and Molecular studies, With the help of Bioinformatics tools and databases for superior isolates Viz., VSS4, VST3, VSM8, and VSB3 were identified at the species level.
