  • The Real Difference Between PR And Advertising is Advertising is paid media, public relations is earned media. This means you convince reporters or editors to write a positive story about you or your client, your candidate, brand or issue.

  • Public relations promote goodwill and communication between the company and consumer. Good public relations build relationships with customers. Public relations boost an organization's credibility, because operates through numerous trusted intermediaries. PR can help to build trust at the time there comes a trust deficit.

Advertising on the other hand is defined as a non-personal communication that takes place through paid platforms designed to persuade target consumers of a product or service benefits in an effort to induce them to make a purchase.
Advertising is relatively independent of customer viewpoint at the time of purchase. This function of marketing is aimed to close sales, while PR is a consumer oriented function.
