Inventory is the Number and value of an Item holding to keep the production without stoppage and maintain a safety stock and a Re Order Point to fill the Minium Order Quantity.
How much to stock and when to Buy depends on Sales Forecast / Demand to fulfill the demand in Production. ( A balance to be maintained with a safety service level at each point of supply along the entire chain )
