  • Transistor is more prominent semicondutor device in electronic world. This is used as the amplifier and switches based on the requirments and applications. The basic two types of transistors are BJT (Bipolar Junction Transistor) and FET (Field Effect Transistor). In BJT, both the minority and majority charge carriers are involved to conduct current. But only the majority charge carriers are involved to conduct current. Most of the cases, BJT Transistors are act as the amplifiers and FETs are act as the switches. Both are have three modes of operation (Active, Cutoff, Saturation modes). Any transistors starts their conduction after ehen it reach the thershold voltage (Vt). This voltage is fixed based on the type of semiconductor material used. For Si, it is 0.7 V and 0.3 V for Ge.

  • In active region transistor acts as resistor and in saturation as a capacitor and in cutoff  as a inductor

  • Transistor is three terminal device which contains emitter, base & collector. Emitter -base terminal is always connected in forward biased & collector-base terminal is always connected in reverse biased. It having three types of configuration that is CE, CB & CC .The name transistor indicates that the transfer of resistance.

  • Name transistor indicates transfer of resistance. It is a three terminal device with the three terminals as emitter, base and collector. It acts as an amplifier when it is in active region.

  • by terminals ,because it has three terminals

  • transistor acts as resistor in active region, capacitor in saturation and inductor in cuttoff
