  • Making of Curd
Curd is basically made with the cow milk in united states but in some countries, its made of the milk of other animals like goat.
When lactobacilli bacteria is added to milk at the temperature of 30 to 40 degree, The fermentation process of the milk starts and after sometime it becomes curd.

    Making of Yogurt
Like a curd, Yogurt is also basically made with the with cow’s milk in USA. In some parts of the earth, milk of other animals is also being used like the milk of sheep, goats, and camels.
When the bacteria Streptococcus thermophiles and Lactobacillus bulgaricus is added to the milk, the fermentation process starts. In the process these bacteria converts the sugar or lactose of the milk into the lactic acid and it converts milk into yogurt with its flavor.

Lactose intolerance people can also consume yogurt and curd because it has low level of lactose then milk.
Fermentation converts lactose into lactic acid which gives the sour test to curd and yogurt. (Acids are usually sour tested).

  • Would like to know that which of the two is healthy?

  • Thank you for your reply . I really searching for this information and i got this
    Curd :
This term actually means a dairy product which is obtained by ‘curdling or coagulation’ of the milk with an edible acid like the citric acid from lemon or acetic acid from vinegar and then drains the liquid. There are many ways to make it. CURD is a non-specific and a generic term.

When we say about ‘dahi’, we talk about only one strain of bacteria, i.e. Lactobacillus with the help of which fermentation occurs and causes the formation of lactic acid and turn milk into curd.
    Yogurt:

This is not a generic term and is created by milk fermentation by using a string of bacteria. Yogurt culture consists of Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophiles. It is a final product that is stable and only these two strains of bacteria can make it.
What are the benefits of yogurt in the diet?
Yogurt is healthier than you can think. It’s a good source of protein, phosphorous, Vit B12, calcium, potassium, Zinc, Vitamin B5 & iodine. It lowers muscular stress, reduces the risk of high blood pressure, controls cholesterol levels, helps post-workout recovery rapid and also helps in weight loss.
